Item was not the item that i was expecting but i guess that's my fault i haven't take a look at it more rigid, I was expecting the one with IDE reader, regarding with the item i haven't really use it yet because i bought another one that has an IDE reader with it which is more functional for me rather than having just a SATA anyway over all the item was not that bad packaging, deliver and others stuffs are good.
However, about a half hour later I went to copy more and it no longer worked. I was able to copy over about 100Gb of data with no problem. Maybe it overheated, but at least I got the critical files over. I needed to pull files off of a fried computer onto my new Windows 7 box. This adapter powered up the HD and was recognized right away as a new USB device. I thought maybe it was a Windows 7 issue, but it no longer is seen as a USB device on an XP machine I also connected it to, and didn't work any better on either machine with another drive attached.
this product fried my drive. i am an experianced IT professional, when I plugged it in to the power source began smoking.
Oh well, my fault. I now wish I had gotten one that does both. It's well-thought-out and seems well-made. Works just fine, no problems on my Macbook Pro with various 3.5" SATA drives. Note that this product does not do IDE. This is a greart product if you just need SATA.
I've had mine for a couple years & it still works great. This little gadget is very handy for older hard drives. :)
